The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards | aka The #Bro Awards!!

Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards ceremony was an event to remember; the presentation of Video Vanguard Award to Kanye West and the artists Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus where the protagonists of this 2015 edition.

“I cannot wait for everyone to see the show; it’s been probably the most magical week of my life” said Miley Cyrus during the pre-show, while posing for different media, wearing a controversial outfit.486030852

The first award was presented to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for Best Male Video with the song “Uptown Funk” by Britney Spears. Rapper Fetty Wap won the Artist to Watch Award with “Trap Queen”. The VMA for Video with a Social Message went to “One Man Can Change the World,” by Big Sean, West, and John Legend.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, and Tori Kelly were among the other acts to deliver high-energy hits during the ceremony.

Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” won the VMA for Best Hip-Hop Video, the rapper thanked her fans and one of her mentors. “This is so random: You know who I want to thank tonight? My pastor,” Minaj said during her acceptance speech. “Thank you, Pastor Lydia, I love you so much.”

Taylor Swift who won Video of the Year with “Bad Blood” also took two more awards home for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video with the song “Blank Space”. Swift captivated the audience saying that she has been a fan of Kanye West since she can remember, because he defines what is to be a creative force in music, fashion and life; while presenting him with the Video Vanguard Award.

West received the award, thanked Taylor Swift, and spoke of some of the backlash he’s experienced over the last six years, including being booed by tens of thousands of people at a baseball game and other issues. He added that he’s still conflicted by that moment, by his reactions, and by the backlash.

“You know how many times MTV ran that footage again, ’cause it got them more ratings?” West asked. “You know how many times they said Taylor was going to give me the award, because it got them more ratings? I still don’t understand award shows. … I just wanted people to like me more. But [forget] that, bro! [In] 2015, I will die for the art, for what I believe in. And the art ain’t always gonna be polite.”

Swift introduced the debut of her new music video for “Wildest Dreams.” And Miley Cyrus close the event with a performance while expressing herself to be very please and thankful because she got to do everything on the stage; from performing to presenting awards, to finally hosting the show.
