Congrats to 64yo long-distance swimmer #DianaNyad, who completed a 103-mile swim from Cuba to Florida after her 5th attempt– This Dream Has Been 35 Years in the Making…Teaching us that in fact perseverance is Key! #DreamOn My People! #ForwardThinking #SuccessIsAStateOfMind.
On Monday, Nyad became the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a protective shark cage, nearly 53 hours after jumping into the ocean in Havana for her fifth try in 35 years. The many lessons behind Nyad’s Xtreme Dream are without a doubt bigger than any dream we’ve ever imagined achievable. Minutes after completing her journey, she shared with the world these three things:
1- Never, Ever Give Up…
2- You Are Never Too Old to Achieve Your Dreams…
3- It’s Never Achieved Without a Team (Whoever Your Team May Be!)
“It’s all authentic. It’s a great story. You have a dream 35 years ago — doesn’t come to fruition, but you move on with life. But it’s somewhere back there. Then you turn 60, and your mom just dies, and you’re looking for something. And the dream comes waking out of your imagination,” Nyad said during her first interview with CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
